2028 - The Bands 50th Anniversary A Glimpse of The Future?

Planning starts for the 50th Anniversary Year Celebrations of Scissett Youth Band. Rehearsals continue in the newly refurbished multi million Euro Shelley Methodist Hall and the Band really appreciates the dedicated Band Room and Store Room facilities - although the Digital Timpani are so much easier to store in the desk drawers than the old drums of twenty five years ago!

The 50th Anniversary Concert will see a number of players and Musical Directors returning as our guests. In particular, Sir Nicholas Dolling will be flying over to conduct the band for a couple of pieces. Sir Nicholas of course, is currently in charge of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra having taken over when Sir Simon Rattle retired ten years ago. His latest recording with them - of his own composition ‘I’m Simply A Devonian Lad’ - inspired by his youth - is currently topping the classical charts here and abroad. Sir Nicholas is joined by the illustrious Professor Simon Mansfield, recently returned from Lunar City where he conducted the Astrophilharmonic Orchestra performing his recent arrangement of Holsts Planets Suite. The re arrangement was necessary to account for the newly terraformed planet New Yorkshire now sharing Earths orbit some 8 million miles away behind us
