2009 - Watch this space

January - On 8th January we were visited by Colonel Roberts who came to talk to us about our nomination for the Queens Award for Voluntary Service.  Unfortunately this year we were among the runners up.

February - Congratulations to players for a fine performance at the Mrs Sunderland Competition.  The first prize (‘with distinction’!) Johnathan Beevers, our super percussionist (sadly to retire from SYB this year), deserves a special mention for coming third in the Kirklees Young Musician of the Year Competition

March - National Festival of Music For Youth auditions at Colne Valley High School. Sadly, despite a wonderful performance, once again we did not get through to the finals this year. A joint concert with Hade Edge Junior Band at Holmfirth Civic Hall included an appearance by the world renowned trombone player - Dennis 'Badbone' Rollins Later in the year we spyed him on TV in Jules Hollands lineup for the 2010 New years Celebrations.

April -SYB received an award for the best unplaced youth band in the Holme Valley Brass Band Competition. The adjudicators feedback contained many positive comments.

June - The bands treat at Orlando's Restaurant was a big success, even if they did almost take over the place.

July - A busy month included the Summer Concert, various galas and the annual barbeque at the Heys farm.

August - As has become a tradition, the band ended the school summer holidays with a weekend at Ingleborough Hall where they rehearsed new pieces for the season and generally had a good time.
