Simon Mansfield takes over as Musical Director
2003 - SCISSETT YOUTH BAND ENTERS IT’S TWENTY FIFTH YEAR
The band is in its twenty fifth year and plays in the St Georges Day Parade in Holmfirth, Emley Scarecrow Festival, Shelley Gala, Emley Old Folks Treat, The Mayor of Huddersfields Children of Courage award ceremony, Honley Remembrance Day Parade
July - The Summer Concert is the last conducted by our departing MD Nick Dolling.
September - The band spends an intense musical weekend at Ingleborough Hall and learned several new pieces.
December - The Christmas Concert is also a special Anniversary Concert with many past players and MDs present. It also the first concert for our new MD, Simon Mansfield. The concert programme included many pieces from past concerts and solo pieces by past players. Unfortunately the band did not win any competitions this year although they came 3rd in Youth in Brass and also were awarded the Deportment Prize - not for the first time - SYB won it the very first year it was presented in 1981 and again in 1986.
