1988 - 10 YEARS ON... PAT TO STEP DOWN
Birthday Celebrations - To celebrate their 10th Anniversary, Ray Farr is commissioned to write a new piece for the Band to play. the first performance of this music entitled 'Adventures In Brass' is given by the Band at their Summer Concert in St. Paul's Hall on 3rd July.
July 17 - Peasholm Park, Scarborough - Mrs. Pat France takes her final bow as conductor at this concert in Scarborough. Mrs. France was presented with a gold watch in recognition for her service to the Band.
July - Bill Bray accepts the position of Music Director with Scissett Youth Band. Bill began his banding career with Grimethorpe Juniors and then joined Barrow Colliery.
November - and it's off to Rochdale again where the Band are placed 3rd in the music section and given 2nd prize for entertainment.
December - a special presentation was made to Mrs. France at the Band's Christmas Concert. She said "It is nice to be able to listen for a change, and I'm sure the band is in good hands. They are a great bunch of kids". |
