1984 - INTO THE RECORDING STUDIOS

Summer - The summer months saw the band playing at the Huddersfield Canal Festival at Aspley. They also returned to London for the National Festival of Music For Youth. Of course, they were also spending time in a recording studio in Golcar!

December - Band launch record - An eleventh hour decision to buy their master tape for a debut LP could have saved Scissett Youth Band from a potential disaster. After six months of recording at Golcar's Look Studios, the band decided to purchase the tape held by the studios - and two weeks later Look went into liquidation!

"We knew there were a few problems with Look so decided we'd better get the master tape just in case" explained Pat France, band conductor. "Who knows what would have happened if we had not bought the tape?" Band officials searched for a company who could turn the tape in to a record, and they eventually breathed a big sigh of relief when they received 1,000 Scissett Youth Band in Concert LPs from a Greenwich firm.
