1983 - 5TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY
February - this was a busy month with the band taking part in the Joshua Tetley Championships, in Morley and the Imperial/Prince of Wales Youth Contest in Southport. Unplaced in Morley, however they got a creditable 2nd at Southport.
July - Once again the band are splashed all over the local papers. Yes, they are off to London again, to play in the Music For Youth Festival. Headlines read 'Festival time again for band' and 'Band head for London'.
October - the annual Youth In Brass Contest, where SYB get 3rd place.
