1982 - THE SUCCESS CONTINUES
20 February - Scissett Youth Band take first prize in the B Section at the Imperial Contest in Blackpool. March - Harrogate Competitive Music Festival. Members of SYB won six first prizes in the individual classes The band as a whole took 3rd place in the Youth Brass Band Entertainment competition. Invited to play at the Royal Festival Hall, South Bank, London!
17 July - Following an audition in March the band were invited to take part in the National Music For Youth a the Royal Festival Hall. The band decided to make a weekend of it!
They leave Scissett early on Saturday and play at the Festival late in the afternoon - then it was back to the hotel for a buffet supper and disco. The next day they stopped off in Bedford to perform in the Bandstand and returned to Scissett mid-evening!
